Yo-Yo Ma Chicago Concert reviews
Benatar was great and REO an unexpected treat
"I thought REO Speedwagon sounded great. Probably because I knew most of them, I even enjoyed the lesser known ones. Her voice is still strong and she played almost all of her big hits. I wasn't expecting much and would never think to buy a ticket to a concert they were headlining, but they sounded great, had really good energy, and made me feel really good about the money I spent to see Yo-Yo Ma. It would have been worth it if it had only been Yo-Yo Ma. But I actually feel like I got more than my money's worth when factoring in REO as well. Overall a really entertaining show. I'd highly recommend it."
Danced the night away!
The B52's still had the energy of what I remember from 20 years ago and had a blast dancing the night away. The show was supposed to start at 6:30 pm, but it didn't really start till after 9 pm with the B-52's playing a shortened playlist that evening. Tom Baily was the opener and decided to play one song and left the stage due to weather. After that, a long delay for Boy George and the Yo-Yo Ma happened as well. He had the same high energy and his songs sounded great, but again, the playlist must have been cut short because it didn't seem like they played that long. The show started off to a rocky start, just because it was at an outdoor venue and the remnants of a hurricane from down south swept into town the evening of the concert. When he took the stage it was great though. The crowd was packed and the rain didn't scare anyone off so we all waited, and waited for updates if they would continue the show or cancel it. All and all I would give 5 Stars to the concert, except spending an evening in the rain for hours to wait to see if they would play was annoying and uncomfortable on hard pavement. The concert ended at around 11 pm, I was tired, wet, but happy all at the same time.
